The drug must not be taken after using a MAOI or monoamine oxidase inhibitor within the past 14 days, or if you suffer from seizures, eating disorders or have stopped using sedatives and alcohol. Wellbutrin may lead to seizures in those who are susceptible to them on using drugs. This is why it is best to give prior information to your doctor about your medical tendencies and what drugs you use. People taking antidepressants often contemplate suicide if they are less than 24. You should go for a thorough checkup in the initial 12 weeks.
The symptoms of taking Wellbutrin should be reported to your doctor. These include impulses, irritation, aggression, hostility, depression, mood and behavioral changes, panic attacks, anxiety etc. Stop consuming alcohol while taking the medication as it might lead to reactions. You are not a candidate for Wellbutrin if you suffer from seizures and epilepsy, bulimia or anorexia, if you are on bupropion, have stopped using sedatives or alcohol suddenly. Dosage: Wellbutrin should be taken just as it has been suggested by the doctor. The dosage or frequency of the medication should not be altered without consulting your specialist. The instructions on the prescription label must be followed. Occasionally, the doctor may alter the dose for best results. You may take the medicine before or after food. The extended release tablet must not be crushed, chewed or broken. It should be taken whole. If the pill is broken, it may enhance the side effects.
To discontinue taking Wellbutrin, inform your doctor beforehand. Sudden pause may lead to unhealthy side effects. The shell of the tablet can pass in your bowels, but this is normal. Those undergoing drug screening tests should inform the laboratory that they are on bupropion. Wellbutrin should be stored at room temperature, in the absence of heat and moisture. For best results, a missed dose should be taken immediately. However, if the time for the subsequent dose approaches, skip the previous dose.
